Does it increase my sodium levels?

How does Salt Therapy work?
The micro-climate environment in the salt cave is ionized and saturated with a natural substance of a low concentration of highly dispersed aerosol of dry saline (salt). It is formed naturally through the convective diffusion (the transfer of particles in the atmosphere) from the salt walls, and combined with the controlled temperature and humidity to simulate that of the cave which creates a hypo-bacterial and allergen-free air environment. As the salt is inhaled while sitting it the room, it travels through the sinuses and respiratory tract absorbing moisture, cleansing, clearing mucus and killing bacteria.
How many people can be in the room at the same time?
Our salt therapy room has been designed to allow 8 people to enjoy a therapy session at the one time. Sit back and relax in one of our comfortable chairs and retreat from the world as you breathe in the salt infused air. Cleanse your airways and let the healing power of salt to touch your skin. Just like a day at the beach. A typical salt therapy session lasts for 45 minutes.
How many salt therapy sessions do I need?
The number of salt therapy sessions required to see an improvement in a particular condition varies from person to person receiving salt therapy. This is because we are all unique — age, general health history, varying degrees of conditions (mild, moderate or severe).
Some people use salt therapy as purely a preventative measure to avoid common colds and flu and other respiratory viruses. Other people like to use it as an effective treatment method for specific condition, like asthma. For this reason we cannot predict how many salt therapy sessions each person will need. We can however report that from our experience at Salt Caves, on average we have seen salt therapy clients see an improvement in their condition in as little as 2 salt therapy visits, but some clients many take up to 15 – 20 visits.
From feedback from our clients, the majority of people visiting the cave for respiratory conditions often feel an improvement in breathing after one to two sessions with some people reporting a reduction in use of medication. Skin disorders respond in similar time frames with reduction in swelling and itching.
If I am pregnant is it safe for me to be in the salt therapy room?
Yes. Salt therapy is 100% drug-free with no side effects. Salt therapy is suitable for babies and at Salt Caves we offer free salt therapy for baby with any paying adult.
Is halotherapy and speleotherapy the same thing?
There is a slight difference between halotherapy (Greek for Salt), and speleotherapy (Greek for Cave), although the purpose of both therapies is the same.
The main difference is that Speleotherapy is a naturally formed salt cave found deep in the salt mines in its most purist form, whereas halotherapy is a man-made cave which has been specially constructed above ground using natural salt bricks, salt rocks and salt granulate.
Is salt therapy painful?
No. Salt therapy is a completely natural and pain-free treatment. Sit back in our salt therapy room and relax and unwind.
Is there clinical research to support Halotherapy?
Yes, clinical research has been conducted to test and report on the effectiveness of Halotherapy for the treatment of asthma, chronic bronchitis and a range of other respiratory conditions. It has been found to provide a positive benefit without any known negative side effects. Most of the research has been carried out in Europe, where salt therapy has become a popular and accepted form of alternative medicine. However, it is now widely accepted that salt therapy is an effective, drug free, and noninvasive method of treating a range of respiratory conditions. It is used in everything from IV solutions to nasal washes.
The most thorough research has been conducted by Dr. Chervinskaya, the head of Clinical Research at the Respiratory Center in St. Petersburg, Russia who has published more than two hundred articles on the topic. More recently, the New England Journal of Medicine has published an article on the effectiveness of salt therapy in aiding people with cystic fibrosis.
Other people are coughing in the salt therapy room. Is this OK?
Yes! The Salt Cave is a very sterile environment and is anti-bacterial, anti-viral, and anti-fungal.
As the salt is inhaled, it travels through the sinuses and respiratory tract absorbing moisture, cleansing, clearing mucus and killing bacteria. Salt has long been known for its anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties as well as helping to loosen mucus build up and phlegm. Studies have shown that people with chronic upper respiratory conditions, seasonal allergies, sinusitis, bronchitis and skin disorders can derive significant benefits from halotherapy.
What are negative ions?
Negative ions are elements that are important to our health. Dust, cigarette fumes, modern convenient electrical appliances, such as TVs, computers, high-voltage networks and external pollution rob the air of negative ions by creating an excess of positive ions which can create an electrical imbalance in the air and lead to a range of health complaints.
